Dniester PSP

Dniester PSP is a part of complex hydropowerscheme on theDniester River, which also includes Dniester HPP-1 and Dniester HPP-2 (buffer hydro scheme).

Dniester PSP of 2268 MW total installed capacity in  turbine mode and 2947 MW in pumping mode includes seven reversible hydro units (324 MW each). After commissioning at total installed capacity Dniester PSP will be the largest pumped powerplant in Europe. Construction of the PSP began in 1983, in 1988 the design was approved, and in 1993 -reapproved. In 1998 the designpassed the international appraisal of the Swiss engineering company Elektrowat Engineering Services Ltd, (undertaken by order of the World Bank) which confirmed the technical, technological, economic and financial feasibility of PSP construction continuing. The first hydro unit was commissionedin December 2009, and the second one - in December 2013. At present time, works on the commissioning of third hydro unit and the completion of the first stage of PSP`s construction are in progress.

"UKRHYDROPROJECT" PJSC has provided engineering and design services as the general designer at the stages of feasibility studies, design, detailed design and authorized supervision. The scope of work envisaged under the contracts includes:

  • Surveys and investigations,
  • Preparation of Feasibility study Report;
  • Preparation of Detailed Project Report, including all the necessary Survey, Investigations and specialized studies, construction management plan;
  • Strength, stability, and filtration calculations;
  • Detailed Design Engineering;
  • Assistance in obtaining statutory clearances and project appraisal;
  • Environmental Studies including preparation of EIA and EMP;
  • Technical specifications preparation to carry out the tender stage for General Contractor services;
  • Design supervision over construction, and quality control;
  • Structures safety monitoring (geodesic, engineering and geological, engineering and hydrological, etc.).
  • Tender documents development in the part of technical specifications for technological equipment
